Hello dear readers,
As you may or may not know, I have chronic pain and have been in morphine therapy for the past 13 years.
Recently, my doctor told me I had no choice but to see the new Pain Management doctor that had just come to town in order to get ANY pain medication.
So, I did as I was told. Upon meeting the doctor, I read his contract which stated “if I am on Medical Marijuana I must provide a copy for my chart, with the understanding that NO opioids will be prescribed from the pain program.”
I was amazed. No doctor since I’ve received care in 1994 has ever had a problem with my cannabis usage.
He then informed me that “whichever way you go, you are going to be sick.”
So I’ve been cut off narcotic pain killers “cold turkey” immediately. No program for weaning off, or detox treatment, or anything like it exists here on the North Coast.
For those of you who don’t know, withdrawl symptoms of morphine include being locked in a fetal position with extreme diarrhea and vomiting, along with wild emotional swings, insomnia, and involuntary kicking of legs.
It’s been described as ‘pure hell’ by most people I’ve asked who have gone through it to a lesser degree than I will.
It seems now my only hope is to travel 250 miles south and see if I can get into a treatment program there.
The Mendocino County Coast has failed me completely, abandoned me after living here for almost 30 years.
I’m having anxiety attacks, panic, extreme worry, and a desperately low supply of meds.
So, I may or may not be blogging for a while, I’m not sure. Ta Ta for now.Share:
